Venice, 6th September 2017 – Today all the races were held in the second day of the “ICF Dragon boat Club Crew World Championships – Venice 2017”, recovering the fifteen races postponed on Tuesday afternoon. It is definitely started the Venetian international event with the 45 races disputed today on the waters of the Tronchetto island and the first 15 titles assigned, 13 on the 500 mt. and the first two on the distance of the 200 mt., absolute protagonist on the day of Thursday 7th September.

First of all, we have to underline the four successes of the Ukrainian crews, arrived at the first place with Khimik Yzhny Odessa (2’18”72) in the mixed Master 40+, Otaman (2’08”55) in the male Senior and, twice in the mixed mini dragon, with Mala Flotylya in the Senior (2’35”84) e in the Master 40+ (2’46”17). First place too for the Czech crew Dragon Force (2’09”62) in the mixed Senior and for the Hungarian crew Retroaktiv Dragons (2’47”15) in the Corporate. In the Master 50+ Mixed mini dragon we have to underline an equal victory for the Italian crew Elliott Dragonboat and the German crew Team Preussen-Potsdam (2’54”45): in this same race a sixth place for the crew Università di Venezia that later, in the female mini dragon, gained a forth and a fifth place, respectively in the Master 40+ and in the Senior. The female crew of the Venetian university took the satisfaction to win two medals in the Time Race (the sum of the times of two manches), a gold medal in the mini dragon Master 50+ (third place for the Canottieri Comunali Firenze) and a silver medal in the Senior category. Coming back to the main finals, in the mini dragon Master 40+ Men success for the Hungarian crew Dunai Sarkanyok Vac (2’36”43), while the competitions on the 500 mt. were concluded by the race of the Pink Ladies that saw the Pink Butterfly crew winning on the Trifoglio Rosa crew.

DSC_5708In the afternoon, the challenges on the 200 mt. have also started with two finals in the Master 50+: in the mixed category success for the German crew Team Preussen-Potsdam (3’09”26) on the Italian crew Canottieri Comunali Firenze, placed at the third place in the male category that saw the victory of the Ukrainian crew Dinamo. Tomorrow, Thursday 7th September (from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm about), the semifinals and the finals of the 200 mt., while on Friday 8th September the athletes will leave the Tronchetto area to move to the Arsenale basin for the first chase races on the 2,000 mt. (after the races, the closing ceremony).
